Hello, Dear Readers. This is my longest foray into journalism yet as I examine the history and ideology of Aaron Bushnell, the US Air Force serviceman who burned himself in front of the US Embassy. I currently have 2/4 parts of the series finished and available, with the third substantially in production.

The examination of Aaron will be approximately 6 hours in length, over three parts. I will then put out a fourth part (which will likely be around 3 hours long), examining the response to Aaron on social media channels, focusing in particular on influencers and usual suspect organizations. This, btw is the primary reason why I made this series. I hate the martyr impulse and this is how this guy’s death is being used by propagandists. Specifically, the extensive promotion of such cases can be used to encourage suicides, and so I want to debunk all the glorification by giving a realistic appraisal of who Aaron was.

Overall study methodology is described in the Part 1. I go over how I’ve reconstructed the evidence and the unfortunate effects that Reddit’s algorithm changes had on this investigation in the period of 2023 onwards.

I’ll make the screenshots of this research available on a site page when I’m finished, since the information is no longer publicly available. It will be similar to the previous research I did on the Ukraine War. And it will be a new entry into my Modern Mythology series.

  1. Looking forward to pouring over this throughout the next week or so and providing some thoughts. Just looking over the timestamps I am excited to see all the lines of inquiry you delve into. -M
